A former Sitka resident, Brant moved to Nashville in 1982. He has had numerous songs recorded by other artists, including one that went Platinum in Denmark and another that reached the top ten on the National Bluegrass Charts. Brant and his trio, 2nd Nature, have released a critically acclaimed CD of mostly original songs, including the co-written "The Roadkill Bill," which won 1st place in the country category of the 2007 Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at MerleFest.
Brant will be talking about the basics of country and bluegrass
songwriting, using his songs as examples, and how to demo your songs and pitch them to Nashville publishers and producers. He will also discuss methods and organizations that can help you grow as a songwriter. During the last part of the workshop, he will be available to critique one of your songs from a Nashville songwriter's perspective. Please bring your song on a CD or cassette and a typed lyric sheet.
